10. La Viña Play
Located halfway between Algarinejo and Zagra, lying on a hillside at the foot of the Sierra de Chanza is the town of La Viña between the streams of La Viña and Blanquillo, surrounded by pine trees, holm oaks and olive groves, dotted with fountains. and springs, among which the "Zurreón" stands out, a magnificent waterfall located in the same urban center in a place worth visiting.
9. Hermitage of the Holy Christ of Calvary Play
The hermitage was built in 1730 on top of a hill populated with olive trees. In this place was the last station of a Way of the Cross that started from the parish church and distributed its 13 stations around the outskirts of the town until it reached the sanctuary. Inside it keeps a painting of the Holy Sepulchre, which corresponded to the last station of the Via Crucis, and which is highly revered for being miraculous among the residents of Algarinejo.
8. The wall Play
The settlement of Villavieja stands out for its imposing walled enclosure. This architectural structure, perfectly visible, runs along a perimeter of about three hundred meters. Although, it is currently half buried, as can be seen in the images.
7. Prehistoric village Play
First aerial photograph of Villavieja, in 1956. Villavieja is a prehistoric town located in the pit of the same name, near the town of Fuentes de Cesna, in the municipality of Algarinejo (Granada, Spain).
6.Old Town Play
Legend has it that the nucleus of Fuentes Viejas was founded just after the reconquest by three families of shepherds who came from the lands of Lucena and who decided to build their homes under a steep gorge on the lands of Cesna. This town grew over the centuries, perched on the slope under the pit, next to three mighty springs "Fuente de La Plaza", "Fuente de En medio" and "Fuente del Caño", forming different neighborhoods, some with cave houses, and forming a spectacular and very picturesque environment.
5. Castilian neighborhood Play
The Castilian neighborhood of Algarinejo was built with the arrival of the new settlers, between the 16th and 18th centuries, following a more rational pattern, with wide, grid-like streets arranged around a central square. Next to the typical farmhouses, there are manor houses from the 18th-19th centuries, which present significant formal differences with the houses in the Nasrid neighborhood: wider and more openings on the façades, a highly regular layout, larger volume of the houses, and porticoed interior patios.
4. Andalusian neighborhood Play
The Andalusian neighborhood is a magnificent urban example of the habitat and territorial organization during the Nasrid era. The Andalusian town was located on top of a small hill, between the two rivers that run through the town.
3. Water route Play
It starts at the Abrevadero de la Harinera as it is a good accessible point with the urban network of Algarinejo.
2. Route of the mills and streams Play
This route presents several alternatives along the entire stretch of "Arroyo Morales". It starts in the first place from the urban area of Algarinejo, in the direction of the "Molinos del Arrabal". Before crossing the river for the first time, we come across a rest area and a fork in the itinerary towards the right bank (Route C) that leads to another rest area in the middle of the route.
1. Saint Mary the Greater Church Play
It is the most important monument of the town. It was erected in 1779, in a pure neoclassical style, by the architect Ventura Rodríguez -which links it to the temples of Santa Fe and Vélez de Benaudalla-, and paid for by the V Marquis of Algarinejo.
